Removing critical shoaling from Marshfield entrance channel

Maintenance dredging began last month at Green Harbor in Marshfield, MA, the USACE New England said.

This very important project kicked off with the arrival of heavy equipment operators from USACE Vicksburg and Wilmington District’s – to remove critical shoaling in the entrance channel.

Working in the 8’ deep and 6’ deep entrance channel, the dredger Murden removed around 20,000 cubic yards (CY) of sand and cobbles so far.

The main goal is to alleviate critical shoaling in the entrance channel that was hindering Search & Rescue missions by the Marshfield Harbor Master.

“The crews did a great job with clearing the entrance channel to give the Town of Marshfield a viable channel prior to the upcoming 2022 commercial fishing and boating season,” said USACE.
