This collaboration aims to assess the availability of sand resources for beach nourishment projects in the country.

Sand nourishment is expected to be an effective solution for coastal erosion, and supports Egypt to implement sustainable climate adaptation strategies and protect the Delta against sea level rise.

The survey will be executed by a consortium led by Van Oord (from the Netherlands) with participation by Horema (from Alexandria) and Holland Marine Sampling.

According to the officials, this project is a significant step towards a climate resilient and environmentally friendly future for Egypt.
