Sacramento and Stockton Dredging Contract Awarded

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Sacramento District, awarded a $24 million contract Sept. 17 to Ross Island Sand and Gravel Co. of Oregon for maintenance dredging along the Sacramento and Stockton deep water ship channels.

The contract allows for work to be provided over three years and up to $24 million, whichever comes first-better known as an indefinite delivery indefinite quantity, or IDIQ, contract.

Maintenance dredging for the two deep water ship channels occurs annually between Aug. 1 and Nov. 30 to minimize environmental impacts. The dredging project work will maintain both river channels at their navigable depths of 30 feet for the Sacramento River and 35 feet for the San Joaquin River.

The Sacramento District will administer the related environmental tasks such as water quality permitting, and the Corps’ San Francisco District will manage the projects.
