Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company is about to begin work on the long-awaited Ocean County (NJ) beach nourishment project.
According to the local officials, GLDD’ hopper dredges have arrived off the coast of Ocean County and are now waiting for weather to clear before they can start dredging and beachfill operations.
The company deployed two vessels, the Liberty Island and Galveston Island, in order to ensure timely completion of the project.
The $73.6 million Manasquan Inlet to Barnegat Inlet Coastal Storm Risk Management Project will include dredging and placing 2.1 million cubic yards of sand onto the nearby beaches.
