The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a $28.4 million contract for the South Atlantic Division Regional Harbor Dredging Project to Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company (GLDD).
The maintenance dredging contract encompasses key navigation channels across the South Atlantic region, specifically focusing on critical operational areas including:
• Wilmington Harbor (North Carolina),
• Savannah Harbor (Georgia),
• Brunswick Harbor (Georgia).
According to USACE, maintenance dredging is essential for maintaining deep-draft navigation, ensuring safe maritime transit for commercial vessels, and supporting regional economic vitality across Southeastern ports.
Operations will involve the removal and disposal of accumulated sediment from designated navigation channels and turning basins to maintain authorized project depths.
