The USACE Jacksonville District recently awarded a contract for ~$7.9 million to Waterfront Property Services, LLC (doing business as Gator Dredging) to perform operations and maintenance dredging along the Banana River.
The work will be undertaken in support of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) at Kennedy Space Center (KSC) and the U.S. Space Force (USSF) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS).
Under this contract, approximately 524,000 cubic yards of shoaled material will be removed from Banana River and adjacent waterways that serve both KSC and CCSFS.
Dredging operations are anticipated begin in December 2026 and conclude by June 2027.
These waterways are vital to Government and commercial spaceflight operations, serving as transportation routes for launch vehicles and critical components, USACE concluded.
