The tender process is officially underway for the highly anticipated dredging of the Gatakers Landing Boat Ramp in Point Vernon, Hervey Bay.
According to David Lee MP, this crucial cleanup program marks the first major dredging at the site since 2014.
The project involves both capital and maintenance dredging of the boat ramp's access channel. The removed sediment will be transported and disposed of at the Urangan Boat Harbor Dredged Material Rehandling Facility.
"The LNP Government is committed to delivering these works, with dredging expected to be completed early next year. The tender process is currently underway, and further details will be provided once that process is finalized," David Lee said.
Once finalized, the dredging work is set to resolve severe silt and sand buildup, restoring reliable, all-tide entry for local boat owners and fishers who have struggled to safely navigate the shallow channel during low tides.
