Phase II of the City of Sanibel’s beach renourishment project has been successfully completed at Lighthouse Beach Park.

According to the City, the crews have placed over 100,000 tons of sand to strengthen the beach coastline and protect the Sanibel Lighthouse.

The project is part of the larger beach renourishment activities that took place last year and were paused for sea turtle nesting season.

The construction works were completed in mid-January and the crews are now planting native dune plants at Lighthouse Beach Park that will play crucial role in stabilizing the beach during future storms.
