The Barnstable County dredge team has started dredging and beach nourishment operations south of the Bass River Bridge.
According to the Yarmouth Division of Natural Resources, dredging and beach nourishment of the Bass River / West Dennis Beach commenced yesterday, January 16, 2025.
Routine maintenance dredging is conducted in Bass River, Lewis Bay, and Parker’s River. The dredge spoils are used to re-nourish area beaches.
Dredging ensures safe access for navigators to the waterways of Yarmouth, as well as assisting in maintaining adequate tidal flushing.
