Dredging kicks off at Port of Rota in Cadiz

Dredging work at the Port of Rota in the province of Cádiz is now underway.

The Consejería de Fomento, Articulación del Territorio y Vivienda, through the Agencia Pública de Puertos de Andalucía (APPA), started the dredging of the mouth and surroundings of the port earlier this week.

This dredging program, with an investment of EUR 312,839 is set improve the navigation conditions in the area, guaranteeing safe activities of the fishing fleet and the recreational nautical sector.

Commenting the news, the Minister of Development, Rocio Diaz, pointed out “importance of this action driven by the Government of Juanma Moreno to continue generating employment and wealth in the municipality both for fishing – essential in our economy – and for the nautical activities.”

According to an official statement, the dredged sand will be used for the local beach replenishment operations.
