The Town of Oak Island (NC) is gearing up for some crucial beach nourishment efforts that will take place during the 2024-25 Winter Season.

According to the town, the lease for available sand from the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), which is required to proceed with the project, is expected anytime soon.

Next, the bid documents are prepared and the RFP is ready to be issued this week. The bid openings will take place on November 5, 2024 at 11:00 AM.

This is encouraging news, as for now it keeps the town on schedule for starting the current nourishment project this winter; which itself plays a crucial role in the long term Beach and Inlet Management Plan .
