The Disposal Area Monitoring System (DAMOS) Program was started in 1977 by the New England District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to manage and monitor dredged material disposal sites in the District.

DAMOS is a comprehensive monitoring program designed and conducted to address environmental concerns surrounding the placement of dredged material at aquatic sites from Long Island Sound to Maine.

DAMOS also contributes to the development of innovative management techniques and beneficial uses of dredged material.

Program information is shared with the scientific community and public through technical reports, papers, and presentations.
