The State Government is improving Victoria’s recreational boating experiences, with a new investment delivering a great day on the water for more Victorian families.
As part of a $42 million package funded from boaters’ registration and licence fees, the investment – made as part of the Victorian Recreational Boating Action Plan 2022-23 – includes upgrades to a range of boating infrastructure across the state, including ramps, car parks, pontoons and jetties.
Next to the new plan for the Limeburners Point Boat Ramp in Geelong, the funding also includes more than $12 million to deliver major boat ramp infrastructure upgrades at Avalon, Clifton Springs, Kirk Point, Lake Burrumbeet, Cowes Boat Ramp, and Mahers Landing near Inverloch.
Some of the works include replacing ramps, pontoons and jetties, dredging, improved parking and upgraded access roads to make it easier to get out on the water.
A further $3.45 million has been allocated across twenty-two locations to progress planning and approvals to facilitate future upgrades. This funding creates a vital pipeline of projects for consideration in future years.
In addition, the Government will continue its Recreational Boating Access and Dredging Program with $1 million in dredging grants to support managers of public boat ramps to facilitate dredging works and deliver projects that provide better access to boat ramps.
