Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has presented updates on several harbour development projects that are currently under construction across the country.

As reported, work on the design and construction of the S. Hulhudhoo Harbor Project is coming along nicely, with the overall completion of the project reaching 88%. So far, the company completed pavement of the harbor and installation of streetlights. Also, first shipment of rock boulders have been delivered to project site.

The $4.3 million (MVR 66.3 million) S. Hulhudhoo Harbour project includes dredging and excavation of 88,623cbm of soil; construction of a 114m breakwater; a 624m revetment; a 742m quay wall; 2,250 sqm of paved area and installation of streetlights.

MTCC also announced that the work is ongoing on the Sh. Lhaimagu Harbor Development Project, with overall 50% project progress. Second shipment of rock boulders have been delivered to the project site on 14th July 2022.

The Sh. Lhaimagu project worth almost $3.7 million (MVR 56.3 million) consists of dredging 31,000cbm; construction of a 350m breakwater; a 276m quay wall; a 500m revetment; installation of 1,380sqm pavement, installation of navigation lights and streetlights.

Another update was related to the first shipment of rock boulders required for Ga. Dhaandhoo Harbor Development Project which have been successfully delivered to the project site.

Overall, the Ga. Dhaandhoo project valued at $4.6 million (MVR 70.8 million) involves harbor dredging operations in the amount of 52,099cbm, construction of a 30m groyne, a 333m breakwater, a 170m revetment, a 529m quay wall, installation of 1203sqm of harbor pavement.
