The Board of WEDA’s (Western Dredging Association) Eastern Chapter recently announced that their Fall 2021 conference will be held in-person at the Historic Francis Marion Hotel in downtown Charleston, SC from Wednesday, October 13, 2021, through Friday, October 15, 2021.

According to the Board, the call for abstracts, registration, and sponsorship opportunities has just been sent and posted on the Eastern Chapter page of the WEDA website.

“For the 2021 WEDA Eastern Chapter meeting, we wanted to have a topic-specific event. With this in mind, we felt a relevant topic for this year’s event is Evolution and Future of Deepening Projects. We want to encourage presentations that focus on the life cycle of port deepening projects.” the Board announced.

These projects can include the preliminary evaluation of the project’s economics, the engineering and design, containment site development, the actual dredging itself, and the final project. In addition to specific mitigation and environmental enhancement projects.

“We are also looking at projects that may not have gone forward. We are looking for presentations where the work was completed in the last 3 years and was performed along the eastern coast of the US. Presentations that focus on self-promotion, specific products or corporate marketing will not be accepted,” added the board.

Tentative Agenda

The Eastern Chapter of WEDA represents Bermuda, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida (East Coast) Georgia (Eastern), Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, DC, West Virginia, Virgin Islands and Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Canada.
