Hall Contracting has officially kicked off dredging works for the Nawi Island Marina Development in Savusavu, Fiji.

This stage of the project involves dredging of a marina basin to accommodate a 130 berth marina, bulk earthworks for the resort and yacht club development and installation of 1.5km of revetment walls.

The works consist of clearing 12 ha of scrub and vegetation, closing off the site and dewatering of the site prior to dredging.

Commenting the latest news, Nawi Island Limited Managing Director, Mike Gann, said: “We plan to have the basin full, filled with water within the next six weeks and the dredging portion will be completed mid-January, 2020 with the floating docks being installed.”

According to Hall, approximately 325,000m³ of mud, silt, rock and limestone material will be excavated from the marina basin to be used as fill on the island.
