Bell Dredging Pumps BV has just released a photo of their Bell 200 dredging pump with double cutter head working in Sint-Baafs-Vijve in Belgium.

A new canal lock is being built in which ships of 4500 ton and up to 190 meters long can pass.

The canal lock will be 16 meters wide, which is wider than normal canal locks.

The lock walls and floors were first applied, after which they were propped up with clay and sand.

Now that the canal lock is approaching completion, all surplus sand and clay must be removed from the lock.

By using the Bell 200 double cutter head in combination with an excavator & water jet pump hard clay can be removed.
