DEME’s new cutter suction dredger Spartacus was launched last Saturday, November 10, at the Royal IHC shipyard in Krimpen aan den Ijssel in the Netherlands.

Following the successful launching ceremony, DEME has just released a video from the event, showing the building process of this unique vessel.

Spartacus is the world’s largest CSD and the first to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG).

With a total installed capacity of 44,180 kW, the vessel is one of the most powerful and environmental friendly cutter suction dredgers (CSD) that has ever been built.

The Spartacus will be delivered to DEME in 2019.
