New Queens Beach Seawall Opens

Business & Finance

The new Queens Beach Seawall was officially opened yesterday afternoon at the Bowen Golf Club, Whitsunday Regional Council said in its latest announcement.

The new seawall will help protect the coastline in this area from storm surge, including the Ninth Hole of the Golf Course.

The 88m seawall, built with concrete Seabees blocks donated by North Queensland Bulk Ports, will play a major role in stabilizing the coastline.

Whitsunday Region Division 6 Councillor, Mike Brunker, said that this project is going to make a huge difference to this part of Queens Beach.

Queens Beach is such a popular spot for locals and tourists, and this project will greatly benefit everyone who visits to our beautiful beaches,” he said.

This project could not have come about without NQBP’s donation of concrete blocks and the hard work of the Bowen Golf Club.”

The realization of this coastal protection scheme, built by local contractor Hillery Group, has been a joint effort with funding from Council and the Queensland Government Get Playing Program.
