In one month, Gebroeders Van der Lee will begin the maintenance operations on the shipping channel between the North Sea and Eemshaven.
According to the company, this vital waterway provides seagoing vessels with access to Eemshaven, Delfzijl and the ports in the Ems region, among others.
"To keep the channel safe and accessible, we will ensure it remains at the required depth over the coming years," Gebroeders Van der Lee said.
A key part of this process is dredging work on the waterway. For this project, the trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Teunis Huibertus will be deployed.
Also, the company will use the research and survey vessel Manuël II to conduct precise surveys, mapping the current seabed profile and allowing to determine exactly where and when maintenance is required.
