Two Meetings on Oxford Flood Scheme Project

Business & Finance

The Environment Agency has just announced that it will hold two public drop-in events to discuss the Oxford flood alleviation scheme project.

According to EA, the project is aimed to reduce flood risk to over 1,200 homes and businesses in Oxford.

The team, currently finalizing detailed design of the scheme, is ready to submit the design to the local planning authority in May, for a pre-planning application consultation.

The two drop-in events will go ahead on:

  • Monday, 15 May at Oxford Deaf and Hard of Hearing Centre, St Ebbe’s OX1 1RL (2pm to 8pm);
  • Thursday, 18 May at St Lukes Church, Canning Crescent, OX1 4XB (2pm to 8pm).

So far, the project team has analysed various options and determined the best route for the scheme.

Provided the scheme is fully approved and funded, the earliest work can be expected to start is late 2018. Construction is expected to be completed by 2021.
