The newly constructed Newport Beach Marina Park, designed in part by Moffatt & Nichol, earned high honors this year.
The American Society of Civil Engineers Orange County Chapter recognized Marina Park with two ‘Project of the Year’ awards – one under the Airports & Ports category and another under the Architectural Engineering category.
As a sub-consultant to Rabben/Herman design office and lead marine designer, Moffatt & Nichol was responsible for the seawall and marina docks design, as well as the dredging of more than 36,000 cubic yards of sand for beach replenishment.
Moffatt & Nichol Project Manager Joseph Litchfield, PE , attributes the project’s success to “the cooperation of city staff, the contractor, construction management and designers working together for the common goal of creating a wonderful and unique destination.”
Project team members will officially accept the awards at a banquet event in Laguna Beach on February 18, 2016.
