The Gulf Coast Chapter of the Western Dredging Association (WEDA) conducted its annual meeting on November 19, 2015 at the AC Marriot Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The meeting provided a forum for the exchange of information of interest to the dredging industry and its associates.

Representatives from all areas of the industry, including regulatory, resource agencies, contracting, and manufacturing attended to discuss dredging economics, benefits, technologies and current issues.

Speaking at the event, Senator David Vitter addressed the membership in a 30 minute speech centered around his views regarding the dredging industry.

He talked about topics such as Louisiana coastal erosion and restoration, federal funding of dredging projects, better coordination between federal & state agencies in the design and implementation of projects, as well as the beneficial use of dredged sediments.
