The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, in cooperation with its partners at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), will host a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Fox Island Habitat Rehabilitation and Enhancement Project on November 13 at 1 p.m.

This $5.2 million restoration scheme is part of the Upper Mississippi River Restoration (UMRR) Program.

Through UMRR, the Corps of Engineers and its partners have restored more than 105 thousand acres of habitat across the Upper Mississippi River Valley.

Restoring the wetland habitat is critical for resident and migratory waterfowl, shorebirds and wading birds.

The Fox Island Habitat Rehabilitation and Enhancement Project is located immediately downstream from Alexandria, Missouri, on the Mississippi River.
