Wasa Dredging, a Finnish dredging equipment manufacturer and contractor, has completed the Pietarsaari Fairway dredging program ahead of schedule.

This project included dredging of very hard moraine and boulders as well as drilling and blasting of bedrock.

During the project, Wasa removed about 970 000 m3 of hard moraine, sand and clay.

The work also included removal of a significant volume of big boulders and stones.

A total amount of over 100 stones ranging in size from 5 m3 to 60 m3 has been removed from the fairway.

Wasa used its backhoe dredger “Optimus” as well as the combined dredger/drilling platforms “Hector” and “Boulder” for this dredging scheme.
