The Wattle Range Council is concerned about rising sea levels, erosion and the increased cost of coastal protection and care, according to ABC South East SA.

Wattle Range mayor Peter Gandolfi said that they want the Local Government Association to take up the issue on behalf of rural coastal councils.

“ We’ve seen substantial erosion in recent years particularly affecting our coastal towns, ” he said.

“ So we’re hoping that other councils will come on board and seek support from the Local Government Association for more funding from the State Government.”

The Wattle Range Council catchment includes the coastline from Beachport to the Canunda National Park.
