Damietta Port Development in Full Swing

Business & Finance

Konecranes has received an order for four Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes from Branch Damietta Container & Cargo Handling Company in Egypt.

This Konecranes equipment will include high-performance 16-wheel RTGs with a lifting capacity of 40 tons, a stacking height of 1-over-5, and a stacking width of 7 plus truck lane wide.

Admiral Mohamed Saad Zaghloul, Chairman of Branch Damietta Container & Cargo Handling Company, said: “This investment is part of our expansion plans for the future and we are looking forward to receive these cranes, which will be similar to those already delivered by Konecranes.”

As part of this ambitious expansion program, the Damietta Port dredging operations are moving forward. The Dutch dredging vessel Seine arrived at Damietta Port on March 30 to initiate a major deepening operation of the access channel.

This operation also comes in preparation to accommodate planned expansion projects envisaged by the Port Authority.

The Konecranes’ equipment is scheduled to be delivered, fully-erect, during the summer of 2016. This will be Konecranes’ second RTG delivery to Damietta.
