Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. has just released a video about the Trenchformer, a multi-purpose cable trencher for a wide range of soils and cable types, working in Noordwijk, the Netherlands.
This trencher, developed by VBMS and Boskalis, greatly expands Boskalis’ capabilities in the cable installation market, offering a complete solution for the installation of power cables in intertidal areas, shallow and in deep water.
The tracked vehicle is suitable for a wide range of soils (simultaneously lay and burial as well as post burial) and cable types due to its exchangeable jetting sword and chain cutter.
Besides working together with a cable laying vessel, the Trenchformer can operate as a stand-alone spread.
