This video, produced by Hitachi Ltd., documents the delivery and assembly of two Hitachi Construction Machinery EX-1900-6 BH Excavators to Qatar for the New Port Project.

The large excavators, with operating weights of 191 tonnes, have bucket capacities of 12m³. Delivered with three buckets: two 5.8m³ for excavating limestone, and a 12m³ standard bucket to handle loose materials.

The New Port Project site stretches over 26 km². It will comprise three container terminals with an eventual combined annual capacity in excess of 6,000,000 containers. The New Port will also accommodate: general cargo traffic, vehicle imports, livestock imports, bulk grain imports, offshore support vessels, coast guard vessels and a marine support unit.

The port basin will be approximately 3.8 km in length, 700 m wide and 17 m deep. In total, 63,000,000 m³ of granular material will be excavated.
