The City Council has voted unanimously to approve the second phase of a sediment removal project at Atascadero Lake in San Luis Obispo County, California, reports atascaderonews.com.

According to Interim Public Works Director Doug Breeze, the project will include the removal of at least 15,000 cubic yards of sediment from the lake at a cost not to exceed $470,000.

The project should be finished by Oct. 31 when the city’s permit for the project, issued by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, expires.

Any possible rain could also slow the project down.
