As the rainy season is due to begin in early June, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is prepared to dredge sewer pipes in the capital in a bid to improve drainage capacity.
The BMA said the focus would be on Chaeng Wattana Road where flooding has been reported throughout all rainy seasons.
The Department of Drainage and Sewerage found that soil, food leftovers, and other waste severely clogged up pipes near Prapa and Prem Prachakorn canals. Residents in the area have been urged to refrain from disposing waste into sewer pipes for the time being.
The BMA has also installed water pumps near the Government Complex and nearby sites to help drain water into Prem Prechakorn canal.
