The President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, recently paid a brief working visit to the Takoradi Port to acquaint himself with the progress of the expansion works after cutting the sod late last year.

The Director-General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), Mr. Richard A. Y. Anamoo, hosted the president and showed him some of the facilities being constructed.

The expansion project, part of a government’s port infrastructure expansion program, is carried out to modernise the country’s ports to meet projected increases in maritime activities.

The Takoradi Port is located in the industrial district of Sekondi-Takoradi and is the oldest harbour in Ghana.
