Citizens to Protest Over Port of Palm Beach Expansion

Citizens, groups, and stakeholders will have a chance to voice their protest of the Proposed Port of Palm Beach expansion project to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at a meeting 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at the Palm Beach County Commission chambers.

They are trying to industrialize our marine park, recreation area, and environmental habitat – Peanut Island, Lake Worth Lagoon and Inlet – by deepening and widening the inlet and Intracoastal so bigger ships, and more of them can go in and out of the port,” said Reef Rescue.

The expansion is expected to have a big negative impact on the environment and the local tourism industry.

The Town of Palm Beach and Civic Association will be there along with coalition partners around the Lake Worth Lagoon area.
