Maintenance work on the southern breakwater at the Mackay Marina has been progressing well and is currently on track to be completed by the scheduled date of mid-February, announced nqbp.com.au.

Work will cease for two weeks over the Christmas – New Year period and the breakwater will be partially reopened for pedestrian access between Saturday 21 December 2013 and Friday 3 January 2014.

Pedestrians will be able to walk along about 600 metres of the breakwater up to the point where the major rock placement works are being undertaken. Access beyond this point will not be permitted and vehicle access will still be prohibited until the breakwater is fully re-opened in February.
