Bangkok Prepared for Raining Season

Bangkok City Hall asserts it is ready to handle the heavy downpours during this period, although the quantity of rainwater is forecast to be higher than in the same period of last year.

City Hall’s Drainage and Sewerage Department director Adisak Khanti revealed that City Hall’s flood prevention control center expects 70-80% of Bangkok to experience raining over a 2-3 days period. He indicated Bangkok Metropolitan Administration officials are ready for situations, and will be able to quickly de-clog drains, dredge waterways or install water pumps at inundation-prone spots.

According to Mr. Adisak, the flood prevention control center monitors the rain water quantity and the weather with a radar that can provide early rain warning. Officials at spots with impending rain will be warned beforehand, so they can prepare to handle the situation.
