Jharkhand plans to develop its own inland port facility, reports dailypioneer.

According to Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda , mineral shipping is a good opportunity for the country’s rapid progress, having in mind that the country is rich in minerals.

“ During my trip I have witnessed that the ports are linked to development of any State. Gujarat has benefitted immensely from it and so have our neighbouring states like Odisha and West Bengal. We too want to develop ports to ensure speedy progress. The Government will take a decision on using the port facility ,” said Munda.

Subernarekha Port expansion has already been discussed in 2006, but so far nothing concrete has been done.

After the CM’s visit to Gujarat, this issue has been reopened with hopes that the outcome will be positive.
