Around 6,000 indigent families from the provinces of Aurora, Bataan and Zambales who were affected by typhoons Pedring and Quiel are set to benefit from the rice-for-work program of the National Food Authority (NFA).

NFA Regional Director Amadeo de Guzman said grantees will work for a duration of six to eight days in various community projects such as canal dredging, repair of irrigation system, canal digging, local road maintenance, repair of classrooms and other community structures.

De Guzman added that after completing their tasks during the prescribed period, the municipal nutrition action officers would then distribute iron fortified rice or I-rice.
