Sabine Tholen from the Water and Shipping Authority Emden has welcomed the new dredger Midlumer Sand.

This dredger will replace the nearly 35 year old dredger “Leerort” and will continue the work for the Waterways and Shipping Administration.

Klaus Frerichs, the president of the Water and Shipping Directorate Northwest, said that with the Midlumer Sand they get a modern and powerful vessel.

The Midlumer Sand’s tasks would be keeping the waterways clean, protecting the levees and flood plains.
