Blaney Street wharf is getting a $1.75 million boost, says salemnews.com.

The Blaney Street project will extend the pier and dredge the surrounding waters.

The $1.75 million will cover the first phase of dredging and extension of the pier.

Blaney Street dredging will allow the city to attract new, larger ships to enter the port.

“ It’s another big step in making Salem’s port a much more active waterfront,” Mayor Kim Driscoll said.
