Thailand: Army Completes Canal Dredging Work in Bangkok

The Royal Thai Army has now completed the dredging of 100 canals in Bangkok, while the dredging work in middle stream provinces are nearing completion.

Army Region 1 Commander Lieutenant-General Udomdej Sitabutr said that as part of the state-initiated flood prevention project, the army has dredged 100 canals in the capital, and has completed 84 percent of all dredging works in middle stream provinces such as Ayutthaya, Ang Thong, Pathum Thani. The dredging process is set to conclude at the end of this month.

Lieutenant-General Udomdej added that the army is prepared to undertake additional canal-dredging works if assigned by the government as it wishes to see people who used to be affected by last year’s flood crisis to have better quality of life and living conditions.
