Qatar to Complete New Port by 2016

Qatar plans to complete construction of a new $ 7.4 bn (QR 27 bn) port by the first quarter of 2016, the project’s executive director said.

“ About QR8bn of contracts for dredging and other work have already been awarded ,” Nabeel Mohamed al-Buenain stated.

“ This capital project should be completed below budget, ” he added.

According to gulf-times.com, the new port, to be located to the south of the capital, will relieve congestion at the existing port, which is operating above capacity.

The project will support the ongoing construction projects in the country, he concluded.
