On April 17, Mr P. K. Sinha, the Shipping Secretary, made his maiden visit to Kandla Port.

The purpose of the Secretary’s visit was to get an overview of the development works, existing facilities and future plans of KPT, and resolve problems if any.

Mr Sinha said it was important to expedite the completion of all developmental activities, including the projects at Berths 13, 15 and 16 which were progressing slowly.

According to eximin.net, the Secretary observed the dredging process, looked at the Port’s efficiency parameters and asked the concerned departments to procure higher capacity cranes.

He told newsmen he was satisfied with the progress of work being carried out by the Port, which has Asia’s number one liquid storage facilities.
