West Jakarta Water Management Public Works Sub-Department commences dredging of the Semanan River to prevent floods.

The Durikosambi Urban Village, Cengkareng Sub-District, West Jakarta, is often flooded because the river is clogged with grass and mud, according to Berita Jakarta.

At least two dredges and two trucks will be working on the project to deepen the river to its previous depth of 3 meters.

According to head of West Jakarta Water Management Public Works Sub-Department R Heryanto, the project will involve the improvement of the whole river with its 2.5 kilometers of length and 15 meters of width.
