SRS Crisafulli Completes New Dredge Unit for Customer in Chile

Expanding on its successful, proven ROTOMITE dredge line, SRS Crisafulli has completed an electric, manned dredge with a cast, abrasion-resistant GIW pump. This dredge unit, referred to as the R6CE, was built for an international customer, a hydro-electric generating station in the Country of Chile.

Charles M. Nichols, Director of Manufacturing and lead product designer, completed testing of the unit at the Cottonwood Lake this week. Testing required the rental of a generator and transformer from a vendor in Colorado. Mr. Nichols was pleased with the performance of all systems. The R6CE model sits well in the water; the new propulsion and steering system is powerful and responsive, and the cutterhead on the 22″ ladder cut well into the muck of the lake bottom.

Lufkin Industries was able to provide a crane to the test lake to lift the 17.5 ton dredge into and out of the water.

Mayor Jerry Jimison of Glendive attended the launching event and congratulated Mr. Nichols and his design/build team of Chad Schipman, Dave Schipman, and Darryl Matheson on completion of this successful and innovative project and new product for the Company.
