The 2024 dredging campaign, carried out by Polar Dive on behalf of the Government of Greenland, will significantly increase docking opportunities for all harbor users as early as the start of the 2025 docking season.

This year’s dredging included the shipping channel, which has now been widened to 24 meters and deepened to between 3.5 and 5m MV.

In addition, the entire harbor basin and a larger area west of the harbor have been dredged to 5 meters. This effort has resulted in the channel being fully navigable again, and smaller vessels can now dock at the quay.

The final phase of dredging will be completed in 2025, and operations are expected to resume as soon as possible after the winter. This will include widening the channel to a total width of 38 meters and a minimum depth of 4.5m.
