Portrush RNLI Tows Dredger Jenny T to Harbour

Portrush Royal National Lifeboat Institution has brought three men to safety after their 29m dredger got into difficulty.

The volunteer crew launched the all weather lifeboat at 6.42am on Friday, 28 June, following a report that a 29 m and 180 t dredger had sustained mechanical failure one mile north of Ballycastle.

The vessel, named ” Jenny T”, which had three men on board, had sustained a mechanical failure. The winds were south westerly and the sea conditions were slight which helped the operation.

The crew arrived on scene quickly and were able to get a tow line onto the dredger. By this time the Rathlin Ferry was also alongside and was able to offer assistance to the crew.

After a successful mission which took approximately one hour, the dredger was towed to the safety of Ballycastle Harbour.
