BEML, NHPC to develop dredging solutions for hydroelectric plants

BEML Ltd and NHPC Ltd, two Indian Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at BEML Soudha, Bangalore, today. This partnership aims to establish strategic cooperation for the development of advanced desilting and dredging solutions tailored for hydroelectric power plants.

Also, the partnership is designed to deliver innovative, “Make in India” solutions that will restore power generation efficiency, extend the lifespan of water conductor systems and turbines, and generate significant savings for the national exchequer, PSU said in its official release.

“Upon successful implementation in pilot projects, the solutions are expected to be replicated across other hydroelectric plants, further strengthening India’s renewable energy infrastructure,” the companies stated.

The MoU has been formally exchanged between RGK Rao, Head SBU – Aerospace, BEML Ltd, and Uday Shankar Sahi, Executive Director (R&D) of NHPC Ltd, in the presence of Ajit Kumar Srivastav, Director (Defense Business) and senior officials from both organizations.
