This vital process supports the safe and efficient movement of goods, keeping the port operations running smoothly and helping sustain regional trade.

The work ensures that the 5.9 mile shipping channel is maintained at an adequate depth needed for commercial shipping traffic.

During the Spring dredge cycle, the crews removed around 200,000 cubic yards of material from the federal navigation channel with the placement at the port’s Sediment Processing & Management Facility (SPMF) to the northeast of Burke Lakefront Airport.
