Under the scheme, the Office of Public Works (OPW) has approved funding of €657,338 for proposed works at Seaview, Bastardstown, County Wexford which include an additional layer of full height rock armor to 100m of coastline, which will protect houses to the east of the coastline.

This funding is in addition to €1,072,661 approved by the OPW since 2021, which brings the total approved funding for this project to €1,729,999.

The Minor Flood Mitigation Works and Coastal Protection Scheme was introduced by the Office of Public Works in 2009. Since then, 21 funding applications by Wexford County Council have been supported under this scheme.

The purpose of the scheme is to provide funding to Local Authorities to undertake minor flood mitigation works or studies to address localized flooding and coastal protection problems within their administrative areas.
