Relong kicks off major dredging project in Saudi Arabia

A major dredging project at the Jizan Dam in Jizan province of Saudi Arabia, conducted with Relong dredging equipment, is moving ahead according to schedule.

The Relong dredgers from China will remove sediments from the bottom of the dam lake and open a transportation channel to connect some of the small surrounding lakes to the main lake of the Jizan Dam.

Also, this dredging program is set to solve the travel and transportation problems in the area and bring economic growth to the region.

According to Relong, the Jizan Dam dredging project was co-sponsored by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture and funded by the government.

The Jizan Dam is a gravity dam on Wadi Jizan about 16 km northeast of Abu Arish in Jizan Province of southwest Saudi Arabia. It has several purposes, including irrigation and flood control.
